Charitable Giving Brings Joy
As an organization, we are privileged to be able to use our success to give back to our local community. As [business name omitted] grows, so does our ability to participate in charitable giving. In the spirit of the season we wanted to share some of the ways we have been able to touch organizations that offer so much to the consumers we serve, and in turn, touched us.
Though we contribute financially to a variety of local health and youth organizations, some of our best work comes from contributing our time. One of the organizations we maintain steady involvement in year-round in United Way. By partnering with this organization we can help to raise awareness and funds for a variety of issues that impact our communities. From book drives to the assembly of free dental kits, we are proud to participate in a variety of small activities that have a big impact on the communities we serve.
One of the most impressive advances we have made in terms of ensuring we have our finger on the pulse of the needs of our community is the allocation of volunteer hours for our staff. Each staff member at [business name omitted] receives 40 hours a year reimbursement to volunteer at the organization of their choice. This offers employees the freedom to give back without negatively impacting their work schedule or income. Through this program, we also ensure that we are supporting the organizations that matter the most, right here at home.
One local charity that is a favorite for employee volunteers is the Food for Lane County Youth Farm. The five-acre educational farm is located in Springfield Oregon near our operations headquarters. It supplies fresh produce to local food banks and is a key component in Food for Lane County’s efforts to combat local hunger. The farm has become such a popular choice for employee volunteers that we now hold a twice-annual “Day of Caring” where we facilitate groups of staff to assist in harvesting activities. We are happy to report that between the Youth Farm and other local organizations [business name omitted] employees have participated in over 530 volunteer hours this year.
Another Lane County organization we are proud to support is the Lane Blood Center. The blood bank, established in 1961, supports the needs of local hospitals through a variety of organized donation drives throughout the year. Blood donations are one of the greatest gifts that you can give; a single donation has the ability to save three lives. [Business name omitted] holds a drive on-site annually—
Which was the second largest in the county this year!
It brings us great joy to reflect on all of the ways our organization can participate as a community contributor and utilize our annual successes to support the values of our employees, clients, and neighbors through volunteerism and philanthropy. We look forward to continuing these efforts in 2020.
